UTILITY PACK
Release 8.10 May 6, 1992
This release of the Utility Pack has been compressed with the PKZIP archive
utility created by PKWARE, Inc., and converted to self-extracting .EXE files.
To unpack the material, copy all files to your hard disk, and then, in
succession say,
manual
disk1
disk2
All of the manual pages will be extracted from the manual archive, and all
utilities will be extracted from the "diskX" archives.
You may find it more convenient to extract manual pages into one directory,
and the utilities into another. The utilities should be placed in a directory
that's in your system's execution "path".
To print a complete manual, be sure you're in the directory where you've placed
the manual pages, make sure your printer is on, loaded with at least 100 sheets
of paper -- preferably more, with the print head set at the top of the paper,
and type,
prtman
To print manual entries for individual utilities, use Cat, and the name of
the utility. In other words, to print just the manual pages for ed, say,
cat ed >prn

VIRUS PROTECTION:
We've included a file named, checksum.lst. This file contains checksums
for both program archives, obtained with the program, "sum.exe", which has
been added to disk1. To run "sum", type, "sum filename", where "filename"
is the name of the file to be summed. If you don't get the checksum totals
contained in "checksum.lst", someone may have tampered with the system.
This method isn't a sure thing. If someone works on the package and then
re-sums the results, we can't vouch for the product.

Version 8.2 corrects a bug in Paginate that incorrectly threw a formfeed AFTER
padding out the bottom of the page to page length when used with the margin
feature. Result: a blank page before each new page.
Version 8.3 corrects a bug in Declare that prevented it from correctly handling
a call using a pointer to a function when the declaration was included between
the calling parentheses. This version of Declare also includes the -S option
for the first time. Version 8.3 also includes version 4.1 of Wc, which
incorporates the -pNN and -f options. A minor mod was also made to Touch, to
limit acceptable dates to 1980 and later, in accordance with MS-DOS limitations.
Version 8.4 corrects two bugs in Declare that (1) prevented it from detecting a
stub function of the form, "funct() {}", and (2) caused an error on a C++
function of the form, "funct((*f)(char *))". This version also substitutes Mv
Version 1.1 for Version 1.0. Failure to substitute the new version earlier was
an error.
Version 8.5 removes Tar, which has been superseded by the MS-DOS xcopy utility.
Version 8.6 modifies List (Version 12.3) to correct a spooling bug in DR DOS.
Version 8.7 updates L and Ls to version 3.2, updates Lc to version 2.2, updates
Declare to version 4.7, and updates Find to version 5.2. L, Ls, Lc and Find
will now understand a bare driveletter, such as "a:" when given as an argument.
Declare will now handle the new syntax found in C++.
Version 8.8 modifies List (Version 12.5) to correct a bug in pagination when the
-w flag was used.
Version 8.9 adds length of Declare (Version 4.8) strings for C++ extended
declarations.
Version 8.10 changes the Peak InfoSystems address on all documentation.
